PROGRAM: "Birding Locally 2006" will be our program this month with our own Greg Moyers. It will be nice to hear about local birds. Just a reminder that John Spahr will be here in April to talk about Birding in Belize. The Morrows will be with us in May and Dan Cristol will be at our picnic in June to give us an update about the mercury in the Shenandoah River and the effect on the birds. We will meet at Traditions, 625 Mt. Clinton Pike at 5:30 PM. Please call me 249-5287 by 3:00 PM on March 1 if you are planning to have dinner with us. – Kay Gibson

March Field Trips Tuesday, March 20 -- Hillandale Park-- Meet at the Parking Lot near the children’s play area at 9:00 AM for our last walk of this winter. With spring officially arriving the following day it should be interesting to see the “winter birds” one more time. Saturday, March 24 -- Bath County -Lake Moomaw - Highland County– John Irvine will lead our club's annual early spring field trip to Bath and Highland Counties with a rain/snow date one week later, March 31st. Meet at the Bridgewater Methodist Church parking lot at 7:00 AM. We will return by late afternoon. Bring snacks, drinks and your lunch. Be prepared for cold weather with layered clothing. Waterbirds (grebes, loons, ducks), raptors (both Bald and Golden eagles) are possibilities; early spring migrant passerines are often seen on this trip. Call John Irvine who will be the tripmeister at 432-2335. You can also sign up at the March RBC meeting.
