APRIL MEETING

PLACE: Virginia Mennonite Retirement Community - Rt. 42 North, Harrisonburg, VA
PROGRAM: John Spahr will be with us this month presenting a program on "Birding in Belize." It's always nice to see John. We will be eating at China Jade in the Kroger's Shopping Center at 5:15 PM. Please call me 249-5287 by 3:00 PM on April 5 if you are planning to have dinner with us. If anyone knows someone who could give a talk for next year, please let me know. I am planning the programs for next year now. – Kay Gibsonn
April Field Trips
Saturday, April 14 - Grand Caverns - Grand Caverns and Grottoes Town Park. We will take a leisurely walk around the trail at Grand Caverns to check out early migrants. We will also walk along the river at the Grottoes Town Park. We should be finished around noon. Meet at the Mount Crawford Park and Ride at 8:00 AM to carpool or meet at Grand Caverns around 8:30. Bring water and snacks as needed. Call Tom Mizell at 828-6059 if you plan join us.
Friday, April 20 - Hillandale Park - Meet at the Playground parking lot at 8:30 AM for our monthly walk in the park.
Thursday, April 26 - Madison Run - Diane Holsinger will lead a walk along Madison Run to enjoy the birds and wildflowers along this scenic water course at the base of the Blue Ridge. Meet at the parking lot at East Market Square (near Crutchfields) at 7:30 AM. Bring water and snacks as needed. Call Diane at 896-7132if you plan to join us.
Bird Club Book Club - Maureen Gallagher-McLeod
The book club will meet on Thursday, April 19, at 6:00 PM for a shared meal followed by a discussion of the March/April issue of “Bird Watcher's Digest.” This issue includes articles related to birding and technology. We will meet at the home of Elizabeth Ihle. The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 1 when we will discuss the book Birdwitched by Marjorie Valentine Adams. If you are interested in participating in either of the meetings, contact Maureen at famcleod@earthlink.net or call 896-9541. Anyone in the bird club is welcome!
